For 1937, the Oldsmobile/Cadillac-built straight-eight engine used in the La Salle since 1934 was replaced by a V8. It was a perfect endurance driver as we could see in the 500-mile-plus run at Indianapolis that year. Ralph de Palma averaged 75.59 miles on this impressive performance run.
